The historic scenic town benefits from fine shopping; local hotels and restaurants, whilst several cafes surround the open Town Square. Well known as a hub for outdoor sports enthusiasts and visitors, the town also includes a large modern leisure centre with swimming pool; tennis courts; bowling green; children's recreation park and many miles of trail walks. 

World class Salmon and Trout fishing is available on the famous River Spey, and for golfers the local 18 hole golf course is complimented with the likes of Castle Stuart Golf Links and The Nairn Golf Club within 45minutes drive. 

Many local castles are open for visitors and Reel House provides an ideal base to explore the world famous 70mile long Malt Whisky Trail. 

Traditional Highland Games are held in the summer, and throughout the year the town hosts various festivals and events including: 

  • Truck In 2 Grantown – Charity truck show In Grantown-on-Spey in May.
  • The Grantown Show - On the second Thursday in August.
  • Thunder In The Glen – On the last weekend in August,
  • Motormania – On the first weekend of September.
  • Try-Tri Triatholon - In the middle of September.
  • Hogmanay – The best Hogmanay street party in the Highlands.

The town also has the wonderful Grantown Museuem and shop operated by the Grantown Heritage Trust.
